Buttons and Knits

I really love seeing my custom buttons come to life on knitted projects! For the customer it all starts with a skien of beautiful yarn and for me it all begins with a little block of clay, and then they come together to create a beautiful sweater.

Kristine Holland of Peanut Pants ordered a set of 1/2 inch buttons to match her lovely colorway in tones of purple, blue and green.  This sweater is stunning and the buttons are the perfect touch!

I combined my signature bird design with my cherry blossom  branch design using her colorway.

Thank you, Kristine for sharing your beautiful project with us.  Your work is truly beautiful

Enjoy the tutorial by Rachel! (GIVEAWAY DAY!!)

Today, we bring you fun tutorial by Rachel. In this tutorial she cleverly shows us how to take something like mail and make it into an art piece!

For her tutorial she chose to work with our lovely "Spring Garden" button collection.

Rachel's clever tutorial!

My husband has worked in the railroad industry his entire adult life and he has climbed the ladder quickly. everyday i am so thankful for the BNSF as they have provided us a nice life, particularly during these hard economic times. tessa ann's buttons coordinated perfectly with the monthly BNSF employee newsletter.

1.) gather supplies, including scraps of leftover scrapbook paper, junk mail that coordinates, and leftover embellishments (i save everything!)

2.) cut base paper to 2.5" x 3.5" (the standard artist trading card size)

3.) get creative! i don't worry about straight lines or centering text. since i prefer a messy look, these little beauties are perfect! and they are super quick as well.

Viola! Beautiful  pieces of art to keep for yourself or to put smile on a friends face :)

Well, we have been practicing a bit more on our Cake Topper ideas and this one I just LOVE!  Pink, aqua and red with little whimsy mushrooms surrounding a cherry blossom tree and a little blue bird. I have so many ideas for little rainbows and clouds, more elegant wedding toppers. These are FUN to make and are going to be so hard to part with :-)

This cake topper will be going up in the shop today!  We are now open to take custom orders for these little cuties. They are sturdy and durable and would make a great keepsake after your cake has been eaten!

All of the tall tree parts and branches are all reinforced with wire underneath the clay making them super durable to keep for a lifetime!

I had labels designed to match our logo last week and am excited to start sending them out! Customers, you will be receiving your packages wrapped pretty just like this!

Be sure to check back Monday! Rachel has created a fun tutorial!  Check out her blog for a sneak peek to her special project!  http://www.rachiesplace.com/

Have a wonderful weekend! Steve's mom is coming for a visit Sunday, so I will be getting our home "mother-in-law clean" clean..hehe!

Leslie's Project and Custom Orders Galore!!

The Button Shop has been extra busy this month with custom orders. I mentioned before that the knitting world has recently found and fell in love with using our buttons on their knitted sweaters. I receive many requests a day for buttons to match their yarn colorways. Each new request is exciting and brings my creavity to a new level.

We have been booking quite a few kit clubs also. Already this year we have been featured in Noel Mignon.com Kits, Treasured Scrapbooking.com kits, ScrapTastic.com kits, Scrap Kits.com and we have a few more in the works. It  has been SO fun to create buttons that match the paper lines they are including in their kits.

And, today is Monday which means we have a Creative Team Member inspiration!  Today we have a gorgeous scrapbook page by Leslie Ashe. Leslie chose to work with our "Just The 2 Of US" Birds on wire set to create a super cute page.

This page is just a bonus!  Leslie is also on the Shimmerz Design Team and created this page for them using our "Vintage Inspired Button Set"  to embellish her page. These buttons are embossed in a vintage texture and washed with a metallic gold and sealed with a glossy finish. Lovely, huh?  You can find them here in the shop: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=44630416

Have a wonderful Monday!  Here are a few more favorite custom orders. Enjoy!

This sweet little set of baby seahorses was a custom request for a customer who's daughter has a baby seahorse that she has slept with since she was a baby. She is creating a keepsake sweater and wanted to include baby seahorse buttons. With her permission, I have a set like this one in the shop named after her sweet little girl, Hannah :)

Go Richland (Texas) Rebels!  RHS!!  A fun Cheerleading Team button set for a fun customer :)

A request for BlowFish buttons to be added to a little boy's knit sweater.

A request for a punk/boy themed set.
Baby Mushrooms in purple and lime green
Spring themed set in lavender, purple and lime green. These little buttons are just a wee-half inch in size!

Creative Team Member Spotlight- Amy Priddy!

Hello Creative Friends!

Today I'm back with a super cute idea from Amy Priddy. She chose to work with "Retro Blue Bird" for her spotlight today!  And, yes, aqua and red seems to be a theme around The Button Shop lately! I find that these colors work beautifully all year round. Perfect for winter themes and colorful enough for summer themes!

Amy created a stylish and functional notebook cover for composition books using a lovely Michael Miller Hummingbird print in aqua and red. This is most definitely a fun way to personalize blah and boring notebooks. Perfect for teachers, recipes, sketches, journals or anything else. Three buttons from our "Retro Blue Bird" collection was the perfect finishing touch to Amy's project!

Enjoy!

Pondering new ideas.....

Cake Toppers.

My love of aqua and red inspired this 1st try.  I truly love how it turned out and am considering listing it in the shop, but kind of want it for myself. ;)  We have so many more ideas for elegant wedding cake toppers, birthday cake toppers and more. And, of course we will create custom orders too!

So what do you think?

An Easter Blessing

Bless this day the joy of life, The revelation of the flesh,
The paradise of man and wife, joined to share the gift of bliss.
Bless this day the pain of life, The passion that redeems the flesh,
The love between a man and wife. Beyond all agony and bliss.
Easter is a time of love, A time of death and pain undone,
So we may know the power of the love that lives in everyone.
Each love we feel, unstained and free. Redeems us--as with you and me.

I hope you all enjoyed a lovely day together with family and friends!  Steve and I spent the day with my parents at Sunriver. We enjoyed a tasty brunch and loved seeing all of the adorable children dressed in their Easter best! It was adorable to see their little faces light up when the Easter Bunny entered the room :)

Happy Easter!

April Artist Feature- Let's Welcome The Talented, Ann Corbiere-Scott!!

My name is Ann Corbiere-Scott and I love art! I love everything about art, the colors, the textures, the whimsy! So is it any wonder why I adore Tessa Ann's darling buttons!

I am a proud member of the Ready Set Create Creative Team, an fabulous online magazine. The layout you see here is the one I created with the buttons Tessa Ann generously shared with us. Tessa Ann's delicate and detailed artwork is second to none, and certainly whimsical!

Ann worked with our "Retro Blue Bird" button collection to embellish her lovely scrapbook page.

I have a degree in graphic design and am always on the lookout for opportunities to stretch my creative spirit and tell my family’s story. I love stories, telling them, listening to them, reading them, writing them, I just love stories!

I live with my 2 favorite people in the world-my amazing husband, Geoff and my beautiful daughter, Miranda, we also cohabitate with 3 of the cutest doggies around, Max, Sophie and Soloman. We live in sunny Arizona and love it!
I have taught scrapbooking and art related classes for a little over 10 years, ranging from basic scrapbooking to advanced art projects, and pretty much everything in between. I am delighted to be a member of the Xyron design team, my artwork has been featured in Xyron print ads in Scrapbooks etc, Memory Makers, Hobby Lobby's Stamping, Stationary and Scrapbooking and Creating Keepsakes magazines.
